Journal 14 Expressing Desires

Take a verb a lop off the います And replace it with たい To get “I want to do this”

たべます I eat
およぎます I swim
ねます I go to sleep
いきます I go

たべたい I want to eat
およぎたい I want to swim
ねたい I want to go to sleep
いきたい I want to go

Technically です Should follow these to make a sentence, And if you want to be more polite, You can, but it is not necessary

You can conjugate たい In the exact same way you can conjugate adjectives so…

たべたかった I wanted to eat
およぎたかった I wanted to swim
ねたくない I don’t want to go to sleep
いきたくない I don’t wan to go
したくなかった I didn’t want to do
かえりたくなかった I didn’t want to go home
